Personal tax preparation in Tampa
If your return has more going on than a single W-2, it's worth having it prepared by people who do this all year. You get a flat quote up front, a return that's reviewed before it's filed, and someone to call if the IRS ever asks about it.
Returns we prepare
- W-2 income plus investments, stock sales or crypto
- Rental properties and short-term rentals
- Side businesses and 1099 contract income
- A move to Florida from a state with income tax
- Marriage, divorce, a new child or a death in the family
- Several years of unfiled returns
What's included
Federal return
Your 1040 and every schedule it needs, prepared and reviewed before filing.
Other states
Part-year and nonresident returns for income earned in another state.
Document checklist
A list of exactly what to send, based on last year's return.
E-file and tracking
Filed electronically, with confirmation when the IRS accepts it.
Next year's plan
Withholding or estimated payment changes so you aren't surprised next April.
How it works
- Send last year's return. It shows what your return involves, so the quote is accurate.
- Get a flat quote. The price is set before any work starts.
- Upload your documents. Through a secure portal, not email.
- Review and sign. You see the return and ask questions before it's filed.
What affects the price
- Number of schedules and forms on the return.
- Rental properties, businesses and investment activity.
- Returns for other states.
- Whether prior-year returns also need to be filed or amended.
Every engagement starts with a flat quote, before any work begins.
Florida doesn't tax income, but your return still has work in it
Florida has no state personal income tax, so most Tampa Bay residents file only a federal return. The exceptions are the ones that cause trouble: a part-year return for the state you moved from, rental income from property in another state, or a spouse who works remotely for an employer elsewhere. New homeowners should also file for the homestead exemption with the county property appraiser by March 1.
Common questions
When is the deadline?
April 15 for most individual returns. An extension gives you until October 15 to file, but any tax owed is still due in April.
I moved to Tampa this year. Do I file in my old state?
Usually yes, a part-year resident return for the months you lived there. Florida itself doesn't have a personal income tax return.
Can I send documents electronically?
Yes. Documents are uploaded through a secure portal, and returns are signed electronically.
What if I haven't filed in a few years?
That's common and fixable. Unfiled returns are prepared oldest to newest. See IRS tax help.
